HelpHow Edison measures

Follow-ups after a price change

How Edison checks revenue after a price change, and how it decides between up, down and too close to call.

After you apply a suggested price through Edison, Edison follows the window up. If you change the price of a window Edison suggested a price for in your weekly pricing instead, it notices the next morning and follows that up too. A change within $1 of the suggestion counts as applying it.

It compares revenue on the 4 open dates of that weekday before the change with the first 4 open dates after it. The verdict is on revenue only. Booked hours are not part of it.

The normal-swing band

Edison looks at how much the window's revenue moved between the 4 dates before the change and the 4 dates before those. That movement is the band, but never less than 10% and never more than 25% of the before revenue.

A difference inside the band reads as too close to call. Outside it, the line says revenue for this window is up or down.

Dates, timing and closing

Before dates are searched up to 26 weeks back, and dates before your first booking never count. If 4 open dates have not arrived after 8 weeks, the follow-up stops. A result stays under Follow-ups for 7 days, then the follow-up closes.

While a follow-up is open, Edison gives that window no new price advice and automatic pricing leaves those hours alone.

Undo

Undo puts back the exact prices you had. If you have changed the price again since, Edison does not overwrite your change. For a change you made yourself, Undo can be offered when revenue for the window is down.

Worked example

One Saturday window

  1. 1Four Saturdays before the change: $2,000
  2. 2The four Saturdays before those: $1,900, a swing of $100
  3. 3Band: $100 is below 10% of $2,000, so the band is $200 (and never above $500, which is 25%)
  4. 4Four Saturdays after: $2,300, a difference of $300, outside the band: revenue for this window is up
  5. 5Had they come to $2,150: a difference of $150, inside the band: too close to call

A $300 difference against a $200 band is outside the band. A $150 difference is too close to call.

Made-up round numbers, chosen to show the arithmetic. This is not a result from any venue.
