HelpHow Edison measures

Hours held by lessons and open play

Lesson and open play time is not a rental and not rentable, so it leaves both sides of the figures.

A lesson on one of your bays, or an open play session on your courts, holds that time. It is not a rental, and it is not time you could have rented. So it leaves both sides of the bay or court figures. It is not counted as booked and it is not counted as available.

Where this applies

The same rule runs on Analytics, the Dashboard, the booking overlay in the Pricing editor, price advice and automatic pricing. So those figures do not read low just because lessons or open play had the time.

On Analytics, lesson and open play money is shown on its own so it does not mix into the rental figures. The Dashboard's revenue for today is a total, and it includes them.

When most of an hour is held

When lessons or open play hold more than three quarters of an hour, Edison makes no call on that hour. It uses the same bar as for linked courts: under a quarter left to sell means no price advice and no automatic price move.

Worked example

A day with two lesson hours

  1. 14 bays open 10 hours = 40 bay-hours. Lessons hold 2. Rentals total 19 hours for $950.
  2. 2Available to rent: 40 - 2 = 38 bay-hours
  3. 3Utilization: 19 / 38 = 50%
  4. 4Revenue per available bay-hour: $950 / 38 = $25
  5. 5Counting the lesson hours as rentable would read 19 / 40, or 47.5%

19 / 38 = 50% utilization and $25 per available bay-hour.

Made-up round numbers, chosen to show the arithmetic. This is not a result from any venue.
